How to Choose a Wedding Photographer Who Will be Best for You

As a wedding photographer, I truly want you to find the best specialist there is and who will be most suited right for your wedding.

Each couple needs a photographer who is just right for them: someone who can not only take the best photos but who will also turn your wedding photo shoot into a very fun and interesting experience; who will unnoticeable integrate in the wedding and hunt for the most important and emotional moments.

Listed below are a few crucial things to take into account when looking for a wedding photographer.

5 Questions You Need to Ask Your Photographer Before the Wedding

1. Ask your photographer to show you a few of his full-wedding photo archives and not just a select few of his best shots from each wedding.

This will answer a lot of questions and will save tons of time for you. This way it will give you an opportunity to feel the overall style of the photographer, understand the ratio of candid photos to posed ones, and assess his/her level of mastery.

No prize, nor opinion, nor any other judgment will tell you more about a photographer than his/her own visual work. Having seen one or two full-wedding series, you’ll be able to make the right conclusions, which is already 95% of a successful decision.

2. What precisely is included in the wedding package? Exactly what services are you going to get?

Make sure to come to an agreement beforehand on the shooting duration and on the format in which you want to receive the final files. How many members does the photography team consist of, and is there an additional fee for an assistant or a second photographer?

3. Learn what other services the photographer can offer you.

Now is the time of multitasking photographers who can offer interesting extra services, such as same-day slide shows presented right at the wedding ceremony, photo booth services, instant printing and so on.

Nowadays there are so many interesting ways and ideas to make your wedding day special that you don’t need to limit yourself to the standard package.

4. Know the deadline! When will your photos be ready?

This is one of the biggest problems in wedding photography services around the world. It is especially noticeable during the peak wedding season. I advise that you settle the deadline before booking. In some cases it will take the photographer 2-3 months before he provides the files to the client. But I think in the fast-paced world we live in people don’t want to wait that long. Some photographers (including me) offer accelerated editing services in which case you don’t need to wait more than 1-2 weeks.

5. You also need to discuss the terms in case of any unforeseeable circumstances.

For instance, if due to some extreme circumstances the photographer is not able to come to the wedding, who is going to replace him/her, or, what are you supposed to do in that situation? It may not seem so but believe me this proves to be a very important point when you consider booking a photographer because, really, anything can happen.

In my experience, 99% of the weddings pass without any serious incidents, so discussing the possibility of any mishaps prior to the wedding is enough for you to be sure that everything is insured. There are hundreds of other similar questions and subtleties which are difficult to foresee, but most importantly, you need to find the right photographer for you and enjoy your wedding day.

An appointment with the photographer will help you thoroughly understand all the points and subtleties of the agreement, and the rest will by itself be perfect. I believe that brides have a natural instinct, a feeling that helps them make the right decisions. Taking into account all this, you just need to trust your inner voice and your tastes, and simply enjoy one of the best days of your life.

Thanks for your time and attention. I hope this was helpful. See you soon!

Sincerely,
